Welcome to the official fan web site of Matt Johnston and Jon Douglas Rainey, Discovery Channel’s hosts for It Takes A Thief. Although
visitors may think they've entered a “Den of Thieves,” it is actually a den of thief fans, drawn here to discuss the show and Matt and Jon.
And “Thief” fans are a varied lot—from teens to baby boomers—who usually have something interesting to share and at least one thing in common: they
love It Takes A Thief and its two hosts.
While browsing the forums, you'll discover that this is far more than a fan web site—it is a community. Therefore, we serve and reflect that
community, as well as provide the latest news about the show and its two hosts. The forums have many ITAT and general topic threads, and there is a
(moderated) chat room. The Home Page is continually updated with the latest M&J news and announcements. And while all visitors are welcome to explore
our site, you must be registered to post on the forums or use the chat room. We encourage members to share their opinions and ideas, but please be
respectful, tolerant, and courteous and always remember that this is a family-friendly web site.
As members post on the forums, points are earned to gain entry into the VIP Lounge where Matt and Jon share information about themselves and provide
some ITAT behind-the-scenes tidbits. If you’re lucky, a “thief” might unexpectedly drop into the chat room.
If you need assistance or have questions, our friendly staff will always help.

Matt & Jon Updates
Posted 08-15-08 08:19:19pm by PNW Raven
As usual, Matt has been busy. He is currently working on a series of online short videos similar to Back on Topps. Titled Defense
Mechanism, it's about comedy defensive driving instructors. It stars Matt and two of Austin's best comics, Lucas Molandes (
http://thecomicscomic.typepad.com/thecomicscomic/lucas_molandes/ ) and Jimmie Roulette ( http://comedians.comedycentral.com/jimmie-roulette/ ). Matt
has five episodes written and shooting was scheduled for May 23rd. He intends to film as many episodes as possible before moving to California in
June.
Matt is also gearing up to work on a feature-length script that he's been commissioned to punch up (make it funny), but he is unable to reveal any
details at this time except that the writer/director is Shiraz Jafri ( http://www.facebook.com/people/Shiraz-Jafri/588314190 ).
Matt was recently working on another Johnston, Moore, & Lutz project titled, Funky Pickles. Filming was March 27, 28, & 29th.
As reported, Matt is moving to La Jolla, CA in June. He says he'll be living in a gorgeous townhouse on the beach and is moving just in time to miss
another brutal Austin summer.
Matt was also working on a project he wrote, directed, and edited. It's a taster trailer for a reality TV show called, Mock Star. Due to legal
restrictions, Matt is unable to reveal much about it at this time.
Cowboy Smoke News:
In March, Cowboy Smoke was shown as part of the Austin Film Festival’s monthly program of screening films from the festival. Earlier this year,
Cowboy Smoke was showcased at the European Film Market and was screened at the Bi-National Independent Film Festival.
Help raise Cowboy Smoke's IMDb rating by clicking on the link below. The higher the rating, the more likely a distributor will pick up the
film. Just go to this link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0795362/ Vote as often as you like; the more hits, the better.
